3D printing my iQ grille
Because nobody else makes them...
Very few companies make custom parts for the iQ, in fact there are only 2 or 3 that I know of, and they are mainly just super expensive body kits.
I needed to get more air into the front radiator area, and divert air into the 2 air filters located behind the two side plastic trim pieces so 3D printing was my only solution.
Getting the shape right for the CAD drawings
I needed to get an accurate copy of the shape of each part, so I took the existing plastic inserts off the car, I laid them on a piece of white paper and took a photo of each one.
I then rasterized the image so I could copy the outline of each part and transferred the file in the Fusion 360 software.
To be continued.
